Rev. Edmon Walshe, Fiddown, Templeorum; CC Glenmore 1894-1896; The Joiner(?) Jesuits; died 13 Feb. 1932.

Rev. Ed. Walsh, Clocga, Mooncoin; CC Inistioge, February 1887-December 1888; CC Rosbercon, 1871-1881; CC Glenmore, 1867-1871

Rev. Ed Walsh, born(?) Harristown; Templeorum. Left £18,000 to the Propagation of the Faith.

Rev. John Rowe died PP Gowran, 22 February 1923.

Rev. James Grant, Ballyhale, died 17 September 1937. PP of Clough, Moneensol(?)

Rev. James Hynes, 30 November 1775-1766; died 24 March 1766; aged 64.

Rev. Bonaventine Cummins probably a Friar. Performed Baptisms in Parish November and December 1770. (p. 42).

Rev. Francis O’Donovan was a Franciscan Friar (p. 493) who officiated occasionally from 8 August 1768 to 17 January 1790. He was living in Kilmacow Parish in 1780.

Rev. Edmond Shelby (PP Rosbercon) Performed baptisms a few times between 29 December 1772 and 14 November 1776. He became PP Rosbercon, 27 August 1777.

Rev. Dominick Quirke, a Dominican Friar. Baptised 13 March 1776 then 2 June 1782. After which date he occasionally officiated till 25 April 1784. Baptised in Thomastown 15 November 1786. He died 178__ buried Rosbercon.

Rev. John Denn, was CC from May 1776 to following November. He officiated again in 1792 and 1793 (see p. 42).

Rev. Nicholas Kealy (PP Lisdowney) was CC April 17, 1777 and down to at least 3 March 1778. Living at Kilmurry in 1780.

Rev. Philip Walsh, Coadjutor in October and November 1778. He was CC of Rosbercon on 14 September 1777. Nothing more is known of him.

Rev. James Newman, probably a Friar, officiated here in February 1780.

Rev. Peter Hayden (PP Mooncoin) commenced baptisms here as coadjutor 28 February 1780, and remained 4 years. His last recorded baptism being on the 29th February 1784.

Rev. Thomas Millea (PP Slieverue) was CC from early in 1784 to July 1791.

Rev. Walter Holahan (PP Ballyhale) was CC from July 1791-June 1799.

Rev. John Fitzpatrick (PP Slieverue) was CC from June 1799 to beginning of 1806.

Rev. Philip Purcell (p. 493) officiated here in March and November 1786.

Rev. James Wall, officiated from February the 28th of 1796 to December the 10th of 1797. He is probably mentioned with Rev. James Wall an Augustinian Friar ordained by Dr. ???

Rev. Thomas Power, officiated here from 3 March 1796 to 26 April 1799. His name also occurs in Slieverue Register 1 June 1800, 1 November 1804 and 25 February 1811. Perhaps he is identical with the Rev. Thomas Power, PP Kilmanagh, who was deprived of his benefice in 178_ propiter absentiam.

Rev. Peter Grimand was most probably a foreigner, perhaps a French refugee, was on the mission here from 14 January 1798 to 3 August 1799.

Rev. Patrick Londrigan. Coadjutor officiated in February, March, and April 1795, but his name does not afterwards turn up in connection with the Diocese.

Rev. Edmund Carroll. Coadjutor was on the mission here in February and March 1798.

Rev. Patrick Walsh (PP Kilmanagh) was CC from 13 July 1806 to 15 May 1810.

Rev. Patrick Carrigan (PP Inistioge) was CC from February 1809 to the 5th of October 1826.

Rev. William Grant (pp 442-3) was CC from 12 May 1810 to 18 August 1821, when he died after a lingering illness. Last entry by him in Register was on 30 October 1820.

Rev. John Foran (PP Ballyragget) was CC from January 1821 for November 1831.

Rev. Thomas O’Shea (PP Comeris[?]) became CC in 1844 and after the separation of Glenmore in 1846 he remained sole CC in Slieverue till 1848.

Rev. John Maher (PP Ballyragget) was sole CC from 1848 to close of 1855.

Rev. Richard Rice (p. 77) was CC from close of 1855 to 1857.

Rev. Walter Brennan (p. 104) was CC from 1857 to 1869.

Rev. James Shortall (PP Freshford) was CC from 1868 to 1878.

Rev. Patrick Murphy was CC from 1869 to summer 1873 when he was appointed Dean of St. Kieran’s College, Kilkenny. He was subsequently Pro-President of the College from 1875 to 1885 when he went on the mission with Cardinal Moran to Sydney.

Rev. Joseph Dunphy (PP Mooncoin) was Adm. from 1875 to 1880.

Rev. Michael Coady (PP Castlecomer) was Adm. from 1880 to May 1883 and then CC of the parish till June 13th 1885.

Curates of Glenmore

The following are the curates of Glenmore since its separation from Slieverue in 1846.

Rev. Joseph Moore (PP Castletown) was CC from 1846 to 1847.

Rev. John Delahunty (PP Mullinavat) was CC from 1847 to 1861.

Rev. James Aylward (PP Glenmore) was CC from 1861-1865.

Rev. Martin Howley (PP Callan) was assistant CC from October 1863 to September 1864.

Rev. John Doyle became CC in 1864 and died October 1866. Fr. Doyle was born in Luffany, Mooncoin and was a brother of Rev. Doyle who died on the American mission and an uncle of Rev. James Doyle the CC of St. Mary’s, of Kilkenny. Rev. John Doyle having studied and been ordained in Waterford College he was adopted for Ossory Diocese and sent to Glenmore his first and only mission in 1864. Two years later on, however, his career and promise was closed in death. He is buried in Carrigeen (Mooncoin) Chapel.

Rev. Thomas Rochford was CC from 1877 to 1879.

Rev. Michael Corcoron was CC from 1879 to 13 June 1885.

Rev. William Cahill appointed CC in 1884 and remained till 13 June 1885.

Rev. James Dunphy became CC 13 June 1885 and Adm. about 1 March 1890.

Rev. Henry Brennan was CC from 10 March 1890 –22 July 1893.

Rev. Edward Walsh was CC from 22 July 1893 to summer 1896.

Rev. Michael McGrath was appointed CC in 5 October 1897.
